From the Cockpit to the Classroom

Military life as a fighter pilot taught him discipline, precision, and calm under pressure, and showed him how ordinary people respond when everything is at stake: through courage, loyalty, fear, and sacrifice. Those lessons now run through his fiction.

Working with young people gave him a close view of their hopes, their struggles, and their changing relationships with family, friends, and the wider world. It also gave him something every storyteller needs: a deep respect for how young people think and feel, and a habit of listening before speaking.

Stories That Began at Home

His writing journey began at home, with simple stories written to coax his grandchildren away from screens. Those homemade pages grew into published children’s books, and later into young adult novels such as The Invisible Girl and Terms and Conditions Apply, which explore the pressures teenagers face today, from friendship and belonging to privacy in a digital world.

An Award-Winning Adult Debut

With When the World Held Its Breath, R. Suleman stepped into adult literary fiction. Set during the COVID-19 pandemic, the novel follows a family confronting critical illness, memory loss, and the uncertain road to recovery. It is a story about patience, love, and the determination it takes to rebuild a shared life when the ground has shifted beneath it. The novel received the Literary Titan Book Award in 2026.

What He Writes About

Across genres, R. Suleman returns to the same essential questions. What does it mean to stand by someone when life becomes difficult? How do families hold together under strain? What choices reveal a person’s integrity? Drawing on lived experience, careful observation, and research, he writes about ordinary people facing circumstances that test their loyalties and beliefs.

His stories are grounded in compassion. Whether the reader is eight, eighteen, or eighty, he hopes they will recognize something of their own life on the page and close the book feeling a little less alone.

Life Today

Now retired, R. Suleman divides his time between writing and managing an agricultural farm. What began as a few stories for his grandchildren has become a continuing conversation with readers of all ages about growing up, holding on to one another, and finding reasons to hope.

His books are available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Walmart, and as ebooks directly from this website.
